AMBON - Maluku Regional Police (Polda) have examined as many as 18 witnesses in the burning of the house of a resident of Hunuth, Ambon City which occurred on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

"Until today, the investigative team has examined 18 witnesses who are suspected of knowing, seeing or experiencing the incident directly," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Pol Rositah Umasugi, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 26.

He said his party was continuing to investigate the handling of the burning and destruction of residents' houses in the Hunuth Durian Patah area. The incident was triggered by a student brawl that resulted in the death of a student at SMK Negeri 3 Ambon.

Following up on reports from residents of Hunuth Village who were victims because their houses were burned and damaged in the incident, the investigation team of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Maluku Police has moved quickly to carry out a series of investigation processes starting from the crime scene (TKP) to find and find sufficient evidence.

According to Kombes Rositah, witness examination was carried out intensively to collect valid evidence related to the burning and destruction of the residents' houses.
