JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid emphasized the importance of accelerating land certification in Indonesia, including land belonging to the community, religious organizations, and places of worship.
According to him, legal certainty through certificates can prevent land conflicts that often appear. He made this statement at a Coordination Meeting with the North Maluku Regional Government, in Ternate City, Saturday, August 23.
"It can be noisy when it comes to land issues, especially land that has high economic value. If it has not been certified, it is usually safe when people are still alive, but when they have died, conflicts between their children often arise. That's a lot of events," he said in an official statement.
He added that the potential for disputes does not only occur on private property, but also on waqf land and assets used for social and religious purposes. These lands, said Nusron, must have legal force to be protected from disputes.
"So that the incident does not happen, so I ask for the help of places of worship, mosques, prayer rooms, Islamic boarding schools, madrasas, churches, and other places of worship, how to get the law certified. Be it a certificate in the form of a waqf, or a certificate in the form of ownership rights," said Nusron.

Through this step, Nusron hopes that religious land can be truly protected legally and used sustainably. In addition to highlighting the land of places of worship, the Minister of ATR/BPN also emphasized the importance of local government support in accelerating the land certification program.
According to him, every certificate issuance really depends on the documents and verification provided by the local government, especially the village government.
"Collaboration and coordination are absolutely in nature, it can't be done or not. We can't issue land certificates if there is no document support from the local government, support from the village head. Because, every time we issue a certificate, we must know about land history, and those who know the history of the land are villages," explained Nusron.
He emphasized that the initial document signed by the village head was the main prerequisite to ensure the validity of land history while preventing potential conflicts in the future.
