Vice President Gibran: Don't Be Eaten By Mangkrak IKN Hoaxes

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked residents, especially in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, not to believe in fake news or hoaxes that the development in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan to stall.

This was conveyed by Vice President Gibran during his working visit to greet the Dayak Tribe and Red Troops Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR) in Sepang Tokong Village, Toho District, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, Saturday, August 23.

"I am sure that all of you, Dayak residents, Red Troops, all support the development of IKN. Do not let you, ladies and gentlemen, be consumed by hoaxes, he said IKN is stalled, he said IKN is not continued," Gibran said in his remarks as reported by ANTARA.

Gibran explained that in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's commitment, the government is trying to prevent development from only centered on the island of Java or Central Java.

Therefore, the development of IKN continues so that other regions have fiscal power and more economic growth increases.

In addition, Gibran said that IKN is not just building the State Palace and Presidential Palace, but as a symbol of equitable development that is no longer central Java.

The vice president also emphasized that the IKN development will continue. In fact, Joko Widodo's 7th eldest son has visited IKN a month ago to ensure that IKN continues to have progress.

"I assure you once again, I emphasize once again, the name IKN will definitely be continued and the construction will be completed. It was only a month ago that I stopped by IKN, the construction was good, on progress, it's just a matter of building a judicial and legislative area," said Gibran.

Previously, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensured the construction of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, according to the vision of presenting a new capital city.

"We are conducting a review to ensure that IKN development runs according to the big vision of presenting a new capital city," said Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during a visit at IKN, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, in May 2025.
