JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) did not ensnare the Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer along with 10 other people with the bribery article. They are actually subject to articles of extortion because they are considered to complicate the process of certification of safety and work health (K3).

As usual, the KPK ensnared the perpetrators of corruption who were caught by OTT with the bribery article. Meanwhile, Immanuel and 10 other suspects were charged with Article 12 letter (e) and/or Article 12B of Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

"There is this act of extortion by slowing down, making it difficult or even not processing," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu in a KPK RI YouTube show quoted on Saturday, August 23.

Asep explained that those who want to take care of the K3 certificate have actually completed the requirements. However, their interests can be disrupted if they do not want to deposit Rp6 million.

"Even though this is needed quickly, then it makes it difficult, this added, added it, the time and others. Even if you don't give some money, it's not processed. It's not going out like that," he said.

"It's different if it's a bribe, if the bribe is complete, the workers are incomplete. For example, there is an incomplete assessment, then the applicant is nego," continued Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.

In addition, applicants can also be depressed when taking care of it because it is complicated. So they inevitably make payments.

"And he also needs to hurry up the goods but he is not sure when this can be finished soon," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK named 11 suspects in connection with the alleged extortion of handling work safety and health certificates (K3). This determination began with a hand arrest operation (OTT) that arrested 14 people, including the Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer.

The following is a list of suspects set by the KPK:1. Irvian Bobby Mahendro as the Coordinator for Institutional and Personnel Affairs K3 in 2022-2025;2. Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra as the Coordinator of the 2022 Work Safety Competency and Evaluation Sector until now; 3. Subhan as the Sub-Coordinator of Work Safety Dit. Bina K3 in 2020-2025;4. Anitasari Kusumawati as Coordinator of Partnerships and Work Health Personnel until now; 5. Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan as Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024-2029;6. Fahrurozi as Director General of Binwasnaker and K3 in March 2025 until now; 7. Hery Sutanto as Director of Institutional Development in 2021-February 2025; 8. Sekarsari Kartika Putri as sub-coordinator; 9. Supriadi as coordinator; 10. Temurila as the party of PT KEM Indonesia; and 11. Miki Mahfud as the party of PT KEM Indonesia.

The determination of the suspect began with an intensive examination and had found two pieces of evidence. It is suspected that this extortion has been going on for a long time.

This allegation arose because of the large amount of evidence found, namely 15 cars and 7 motorbikes and Rp170 million and US$2,201 in cash.
