Vehicles Keep Running When Sending Passengers, Angkot Drivers In Malaysia Are Threatened With 5 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - An angkot driver in Selangor, Malaysia, was arrested by the police after not stopping the vehicle while dropping off his passengers.

The New Straits Times reported that Friday, August 22, the arrests were made by the police after the incident of dropping passengers consisting of students went viral on social media.

Kajang Police Chief in Malaysia, Naazron Abdul Yusof, said the angkot driver's actions could endanger the safety of passengers and other road users.

Malaysian police said the driver was 59 years old. Arrested on charges of driving by endangering others.

For his actions, the driver faces up to five years in prison and a fine between RM5,000 (S$ 1,500) and RM15.000.
