80 Houses In Kudus Damaged By Strong Winds, Residents Are Advised To Be Susulant Alert

JAKARTA - As many as 80 houses in two villages in Undaan District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, were damaged with varying levels due to strong winds, Tuesday, August 19.

"Temporary data, it was recorded that 80 houses were affected by strong winds from both Medini and Kalirejo villages," said Head of Emergency and Logistics of the Kudus Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Munaji in Kudus, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

Based on information from residents affected, he said, the disaster occurred between 11.00 and 12.00 WIB.

The tornado in Kalirejo Village began with rain accompanied by strong winds, which occurred between 11.00 WIB and 14.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, in Medini Village, it occurred at 12.00 WIB, which started with rain accompanied by strong winds.

As a result of this incident, 80 houses in Medini Village as many as 50 houses and Kalirejo Village as many as 30 houses were damaged in various ways, while there were no fatalities. The damage that occurred was in the form of a roof tile of a resident's house that was swept away by the wind.

"Losses due to the incident are estimated at Rp90 million from the preliminary calculations of the two villages," he said.

He appealed to residents to remain alert to the possibility of a similar natural disaster. If a tornado occurs, it is advisable to stay away from the corners of the room, doors, windows, and also the outer walls of the building, because high winds can damage parts of the house, so that the material can endanger the safety of the soul.

In addition to conducting data assessments, BPBD Kudus together with a joint team carried out cleaning and community service to repair houses affected by the tornado. Including evacuating trees that fell due to strong winds.

Kudus BPBD also sent genteng assistance to affected residents, so that their houses could be occupied again because the weather was also cloudy.
