Regent Iksan Successfully Overcomes Morowali's Electric Crisis

JAKARTA - Morowali Regent, Iksan Baharudin Abdul Rauf said that equal availability of electricity is something the community really wants. Because, it can support all activities.

The availability of electricity in the Morowali region is getting better, especially with the inauguration of electricity infrastructure by PT PLN (Persero) Sulawesi Main Development Unit (UIP) on Tuesday, August 19.

"This is what the people of Morowali have been waiting for so far. Of course, we hope that the government will continue to fully support PLN's journey so that the 2027 target, all Morowali is bright to the archipelago, it can be achieved," said Regent Iksan.

The inauguration ceremony took place in Bahomooni Village, Central Bungku District, Morowali Regency, to be precise at the Bengku 150 KV Main Substation (GI). The inauguration was also attended by the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Anwar Hafid, the ranks of Forkopimda Morowali to representatives of the management of PLN UIP Sulawesi.

The Manager of PLN UPP South Sulawesi, Edy Roy, said that the successful operation of electricity infrastructure in Morowali could not be separated from the support of many parties. However, he assessed that the Regent of Iksan has an important role so that the High Voltage Airline (SUTT) project can operate faster than the target.

"The role of the Regent in the success of this electricity problem is very large. The initial plan for electric lighting is scheduled for August, but thanks to his encouragement, since June 5 it has been able to turn on," said Edy.

He added, since the beginning of his introduction, Regent Iksan has been actively asking about the progress of the project, even when he was out of town.

"He often calls me. When he happens to be out of town, he also invites to meet. His struggle is extraordinary. Pak Iksan always asks: how it develops, what are the obstacles, what can I help? " added Edy.

One proof of the Regent's attention, continued Edy, was when PLN faced land acquisition problems. Several land owners, including businessmen, had refused. However, after coordinating with the Regent, the problem was quickly resolved.

When we had difficulty land acquisition, I went straight to him. It didn't take long, in just a few days the community and businessmen who had refused were finally willing. This shows his concern and seriousness," said Edy.

With the operation of this infrastructure, electricity supply in Morowali is increasingly reliable. The presence of this new network and substation is expected to be able to encourage economic growth, attract investment, and improve people's welfare.
