SOUTH KONAWE - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the South Konawe (Konsel) Police, Southeast Sulawesi, arrested a 16-year-old student caught distributing 115 packages of methamphetamine in Rambu-Rambu Village, Laeya District.

Deputy Police Chief, Commissioner Fitrayadi, said the student, identified as AM, was arrested along with his friend, SS (19), on Tuesday, August 12, at around 7:00 p.m. WITA.

"We arrested them and conducted further investigations, and we can now release the case," Fitrayadi said when contacted by Antara in Kendari on Friday, August 15.

According to Fitrayadi, the case began with a public report that the location was frequently used as a hub for illegal drug trafficking.

"After gathering information, we immediately went to the crime scene and arrested two suspected narcotics perpetrators," he said.

During the search, officers found 115 packages of methamphetamine weighing 48.25 grams, along with other related evidence.

After the arrest, the two perpetrators were taken with the evidence to undergo further legal proceedings. During interrogation, both confessed to their role as methamphetamine dealers in the South Konawe area.

Fitrayadi emphasized that the two perpetrators are being charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

He also urged the public to avoid drug abuse, and parents in particular to supervise their children.

"If you directly witness or receive information about drug abuse or similar cases, immediately report it to the nearest police station," he said.
