JAKARTA - The status outbreak that has hit Sudan for several years has not sloped by being marked by cases that continue to soar.
In just one city, 2,300 infected patients in the past week.
"In Darfur alone, the MSF team has treated more than 2,300 patients and recorded 40 deaths in the past week," read a statement by the Cross-Border Doctor (MSF), Thursday, August 14, quoted from AFP.
Cholera is caused by the Vibrio cholerae bacteria which causes acute diarrhea. These bacteria trigger severe dehydration to death.
Sudan has been hit by hopes for years. In addition to the plague, the country is also experiencing civil war between regular soldiers and fast-support or paramilitary forces (RSF).
Gun clashes often occur between the two camps plus a number of militants involved causing tidal evacuation waves in several areas.
"In addition to the massive war, the Sudanese people are now experiencing the country's worst vaccine outbreak in recent years," the statement continued.
