Russia Considers Europe Sabotage Washington Through Virtual Meeting With Trump

JAKARTA - Russia's foreign ministry considers the virtual meeting of US President Donald Trump with European leaders is not important. Virtual negotiations were held ahead of Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We consider the consultation requested by Europe as a politically and practically insignificant measure," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexey Fadeev said at a news conference on Wednesday, August 13.

He then accused the European Union of sabotaging Washington and Moscow diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and trying to stall the settlement process.

"The European Union's rhetoric on its support for finding a way to reach a peaceful settlement is nothing more than another attempt to stall the completion process," Fadeev said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Berlin today to attend a virtual conference, where European leaders hope to convince Trump to respect Kyiv's interests in Friday's talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of the need for pressure on Russia for a just peace.

This statement was made by the President of Ukraine hours before the virtual meeting of US President Donald Trump with European leaders with Zelenskyy.

"This war must end," Zelenskyy said on Telegram.

"We must learn from the experience of Ukraine and our partners to prevent deception from the Russian side," he continued.

According to him, there is no sign that Russia will end the war. It is necessary to take joint steps between Ukraine, Europe, including the United States.
