JAKARTA - The Cartenz Damai Ops Task Force arrested Nowaiten Telenggen alias German Ubkangge who was suspected of being a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Nduga area, Papua. The man is a subordinate of Egianus Kogoya.

"This arrest is a significant step in our efforts to suppress the space for the KKB in the Papua region," said Head of Damai Cartenz Operations Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, Thursday, August 7.

The arrest began with public information regarding the whereabouts of the perpetrator who was in a puskesmas in a condition influenced by alcohol.

Thus, the information was followed up and arrested Nowaiten Telenggen at around 09.04 WIT. Furthermore, the man was immediately taken to the Nduga Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The results of the interim examination, Nowaiten Telenggen admitted his involvement in three major actions that had shocked the public and became a national concern.

Nowaiten Telenggen was involved in the shooting of a white Armour car on Jalan Trans Batu, Yasoma Village on April 21, 2022; the shooting of the SAM Air PK-SMG plane at Kenyam Airport on June 7, 2022; and the massacre of pastors, ustaz, and civilians in Nogolaid Village on July 16, 2022.

"The perpetrator also claimed to be a supplier of food (bama) for the Egianus Kogoya group and the documentation of the group's armed actions," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force Kombes Yusuf Sutejo appealed to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by the misleading narrative that is often spread by KKB sympathizers.

"We are committed to conveying accurate and open information to the public. We also ask for public support to immediately report if we know the whereabouts of members of the armed group," said Yusuf.
