JAYAPURA - The Cartenz Peace Task Force team is currently investigating an attack on civilians in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, which resulted in one seriously injured and another killed.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, said the two incidents began after the victim named Lea was found in the Pasar Baru Complex area, Dekai, who was injured by a sharp weapon on Tuesday night (5/8) and is still being treated at Dekai Hospital.
Then on Wednesday (6/8), another attack on civilians occurred. The victim named Yohanes Entamoi (39), who works as a laborer, was found dead with serious injuries due to sharp gun violence in the Red River area, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
From the results of the medical team's examination at Dekai Hospital, it was revealed that victim Yohanes Entamoi suffered sharp weapons wounds to his neck, face, right arm, and lacerations to his left index finger.
The incident was revealed after reports from two witnesses, namely witness G, who stated that during the attack he and the victim were building a kiosk at the scene when suddenly two unknown people attacked.
The victim had fled behind the house, while the witness managed to kick one of the perpetrators before fleeing and asked for help from the Yahukimo Police.
The second witness, N explained that at the time of the incident he was in the house close to the location where the kiosk were built and heard screams for help, and saw two unknown people chasing the handyman towards the back of the house.
One of the perpetrators threatened the witness with an ax, but returned to chase the victim and the witness immediately left the house to report the incident to the police.
