Make Sure The Re-voting For The Regional Head Election In Papua Runs Smoothly, KPU Visits TPS In Jayapura

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has ensured that the re-voting (PSU) in re-voting (Pilkada) in a number of areas in Papua, especially Jayapura City, will take place safely and in an orderly manner in accordance with applicable regulations.

Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Muhammad Afifuddin said that all stages of the PSU have been prepared optimally and are expected to run smoothly until the voting process is complete.

"We visited several polling stations in Jayapura City to ensure smooth running. God willing, all the processes that have been prepared optimally can run smoothly until 13.00 WIT," he said in Jayapura, Wednesday, July 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Afifudin, his party expressed appreciation and gratitude for the support from various parties including the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Commission II of the DPR RI, the Acting Governor of Papua, and the TNI-Polri apparatus who also ensured that the implementation of the PSU was carried out safely.

"From the state side, this is a shared responsibility, especially in the support of all elements, which is extraordinary," he said.

He explained that during his visit at around 10.00 WIT, his party acknowledged that the level of voter participation in a number of polling stations was still relatively low when compared to the previous election. However, he is optimistic that participation will increase as time until noon is still available.

"We ask KPU friends to continue to encourage people to exercise their voting rights until 13.00 WIT. The PSU process continues according to the rules and regulations," he said.

He added that his party also emphasized that the invitation letter to choose was not the only requirement to go to the TPS, therefore to people in Papua who have an electronic ID card and are registered on the permanent voter list (DPT) they are still allowed to vote.

The invitation letter is only a notification. If residents have an ID card and are registered at the TPS, please come. There is still time to check through online DPT and channel their voting rights," he said again.

He explained that his party really hopes that the PSU in Papua can produce people's elected leaders and strengthen democracy in the Land of Papua in a peaceful, orderly and transparent process.
