JAYAWIJAYA - Jayawijaya Resort Police (Polres) is investigating a case of abuse against a resident named Eli Mosip (35) who occurred on Jalan Trans Kimbim-Wamena, Papua Mountains, last Sunday night.

Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Anak Agung Made Satriya Bimantara said the victim suffered several injuries as a result of an attack by an unknown person (OTK).

"The victim suffered stab wounds to his left calf, wounds to the right heel, and wounds to the lower lip due to blunt objects," said AKBP Satriya in a statement in Wamena, Antara, Monday, August 4.

Currently, the victim is still being treated at the Wamena Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for further medical treatment.

"The victim was rescued and is in the handling of medical personnel at Wamena Hospital," said Satriya.

After receiving the report of the persecution, the officers from the Jayawijaya Police together with Brimob personnel Yonif C Wamena immediately went to the scene to secure the crime scene (TKP) and evacuate victims.

"The victim was immediately taken to the hospital after the situation at the location could be controlled," he added.

The Jayawijaya Police Chief also appealed to the victim's family to refrain and not take countermeasures.

"We ask the victim's family not to act alone and leave the handling entirely to the police. We will try our best to uncover the perpetrators of the persecution," he said.

Currently, the police are still investigating the motives and identities of the perpetrators, who are still unknown.
