PURBALINGGA - The joint SAR team is still searching for three workers of the water channel project who went missing after being hit by flash floods in the Klating River, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, on Sunday night, August 3, 2025.

Head of the Cilacap Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), M Abdullah, said the flood occurred while six workers were working on the construction of waterways in the river.

"When the flash flood arrived at around 19.30 WIB, three workers managed to save themselves by climbing into heavy equipment, while the whereabouts of the other three were not yet known," Abdullah said in Purbalingga, Antara, Monday, August 4.

According to a report by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Purbalingga, the incident was reported on Sunday night at around 20.30 WIB.

After receiving this information, Basarnas immediately dispatched a rescue team from the Banyumas SAR Alert Unit and the Cilacap SAR Office to the scene.

Three workers who survived were successfully evacuated on Monday morning at around 02.00 WIB using a rubber boat. They are Juni Setiawan (31), a resident of Tunjungseto Village, Kebumen, Muntohar (30), a resident of Kumedijing Village, Wonosobo, Bintang Putra Nugraha (23), a resident of Jagalan Village, Sleman.

Meanwhile, the three workers who are still being searched are Tedi (28), a resident of Majenang, Cilacap, Muhyadi (60), a resident of Penaruban Village, Kaligondang, Purbalingga, Sarwoyo (50), a resident of Penaruban Village, Kaligondang, Purbalingga.

"The search is still being carried out by following the flow of the Klating River," Abdullah said.

The SAR team is divided into three search and rescue units (SRU). SRU 1 conducted a 3 kilometer search on the water surface using three Landing Craft Rubber (LCR) rubber boats. SRU 2 combed the land route and spread information to the surrounding community. While SRU 3 monitors the location using thermal drones.

This search operation involves elements of Basarnas, BPBD, TNI, Polri, volunteers, and local residents.
