JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung targets the Capital Student contingent to win the overall title at the 2025 National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) which will be held in the next few months.
This was conveyed by Pramono when opening the 2025 DKI Jakarta Provincial Student Sports Week (POPPROV) and Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) at the Soemantri Brodjonegoro Student Center, Monday, August 4, 2025.
"I have high hopes for the students who are present today so that Jakarta can become the overall champion at the 2025 National Student Sports Week," said Pramono.
He is optimistic that Jakarta's student athletes will be able to compete at the national level. One of these optimism is based on the achievements of the Jakarta U-12 Student Football Team, which previously won the 2025 Cup in Denmark, representing Indonesia.
"Hopefully this spirit will become the spirit of all of us, so that this student sports week can produce Jakarta's future athletes who will fight in the National Sports Week," said Pramono.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of this competition as a place for coaching, character development, and selection of talented young athletes.
"Hopefully this activity will become a training and selection route for prospective athletes who will later represent the DKI Jakarta contingent in various sports events, both nationally and internationally," he said.
POPPROV and PORPROV DKI Jakarta 2025 will last for five days, from 4 to 8 August 2025. A total of 1,504 student athletes will compete in 10 sports, namely basketball, volleyball, badminton, football, takraw football, karate, archery, pencak silat, taekwondo, and table tennis.
