The Central Jakarta Metro Police arrested four football supporters who were involved in the case of mistreatment of a member of the Garuda Indonesia Ultras. This incident was triggered by tensions between supporters after the AFF U-23 Cup Final match.

"The motive was because the banners of the perpetrators installed in the stadium were removed," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Budi Prasetya in Jakarta, Friday (1/8).

The four perpetrators who were arrested each had the initials DA (34), IK (34), JIA (31), and MH (31). The four of them are part of the support group of Curva Sub Garuda, while the victims are from the Garuda Indonesia Ultras group.

The beating incident occurred on Tuesday night (29/7) at around 23.30 WIB, not long after the match ended. According to Budi, the perpetrators saw the victim sitting with his colleagues, then immediately challenged him to a duel because he suspected the group of victims who lowered their banners inside the stadium.

"The victim did not fight back, but the suspects continued to beat the victim by kicking and hitting the victim," he explained.

The four perpetrators are now charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding joint violence in public, with a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and 6 months.

In addition, the police are still hunting for another perpetrator who has been designated as a DPO. The perpetrator is known to have played a role in stabbing the victim during the incident.

"The Central Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim Team is pursuing other perpetrators. We have pocketed their identities," said Budi.

He also appealed to the public, especially football supporters, not to be easily provoked and resolve every problem peacefully.
