JAKARTA - The Head of the Indonesian Capital City Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, stated that the process of moving state civil servants (ASN) to the Nusantara capital city in East Kalimantan Province is continuing according to the strategic plan formulated by the central government.

"The process of moving ASN to the Nusantara capital city will continue according to the central government's plan," Basuki said in a statement in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Thursday, July 31.

He explained that the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) has planned to transfer ASN from 15 ministries to the Nusantara capital city in the near future, as part of a strategy to gradually relocate central agencies to the Nusantara capital city.

"A total of 1,170 IKN Authority employees have officially moved (to the Nusantara capital city) and are occupying several ASN residential towers," Basuki said, as quoted by ANTARA.

In addition, 109 employees from the Ministry of Health Hospital are also working and living in the Nusantara capital city area.

The presence of civil servants is reinforced by the transfer of employees from various state institutions and ministries, such as Bank Indonesia, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Ministry of Public Works (PU), and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP).

"A number of employees from technical centers under the Ministry of Public Works have also moved to the Nusantara capital city," explained Basuki.

The gradual transfer of civil servants to the Nusantara capital city coincides with the completion of all preparatory stages for the second phase of development, including budgeting.

Basuki added that the second phase of development is a continuation of the first phase, which focused on developing the legislative and judicial areas and other supporting ecosystems.

"And air transportation infrastructure, namely Nusantara Airport, has been converted into a public airport with the approval of the Indonesian House of Representatives," he added.

According to him, Nusantara Airport will accommodate passengers from the West Kalimantan region, such as Kutai Kartanegara, West Kutai, and Paser Regencies.
