PANDEGLANG - A fatal accident occurred on the Cinibung incline, specifically in Sukajadi Village, Cibaliung District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten. A rice truck belonging to the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) allegedly failed to make the climb, rolled back, and collided with a Toyota Avanza directly behind it.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, July 30th at 11:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. One person, the truck's assistant, reportedly died at the scene.

Cibaliung Police Chief, Inspector Asep Jamaludin, confirmed the incident. He stated that the accident involved a Mitsubishi truck with license plate number T 8721 TG and a Toyota Avanza passenger car with license plate number A 1660 TQ.

"Yes, there was a traffic accident between the truck and the Avanza. One person was pronounced dead at the scene," Inspector Asep confirmed when contacted by reporters by phone.

First Inspector Asep explained that the truck was driven by Dendi Supriyadi (18), a resident of Babakan Lor, Cikedal District, Pandeglang Regency. At the time of the incident, the truck was carrying dozens of sacks of rice to be distributed to residents.

The rice was part of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) aid program, distributed through the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to residents in the southern region of Pandeglang.

"The truck was reportedly traveling from Panimbang towards Cibaliung. However, while traversing a steep incline in the Cinibung area, the truck allegedly couldn't make it up the incline due to its heavy load. As a result, the vehicle suddenly rolled backwards and out of control," he said.

First Inspector Asep revealed that at the same time, one of the truck's passengers, Jamhari alias Ableng (55), also a resident of Babakan Lor, got out of the vehicle, likely to help regulate the vehicle's speed.

Tragically, the victim slipped and was crushed by the truck as it rolled backwards. Not only that, Asep said, the truck also hit a Toyota Avanza directly behind it.

"The Avanza was reportedly driven by Asrori (48), a private employee from Cilegon City. There were no reports of serious injuries to the Avanza driver, but the car sustained serious front damage from being hit by the truck," he said.

Asep said that Jamhari, also known as Ableng (55), died at the scene as a result of the incident. "The victim died at the scene and was immediately evacuated to the Cibaliung Community Health Center," added First Inspector Asep.

As of the publication of this article, the Pandeglang Police Traffic Accident Unit was still conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. Police will also inspect the condition of the vehicles and their roadworthiness at the scene, considering that the Cinibung incline is known to be quite steep and prone to accidents, especially for heavy vehicles.

The victim's family has been contacted, and the plan is for the body to be immediately returned to the funeral home in Babakan Lor for burial.
