JAKARTA - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Central Executive Board (DPP), Puan Maharani, officially opened a series of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) sessions for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), the Provincial and Regency/City DPRDs (DPRD) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction for the 2024–2029 period at the Bali Beach Convention Center, Denpasar, on Wednesday, July 30.

In her speech, Puan emphasized that PDIP must increasingly engage with the common people and youth.

"In the past, PDI Perjuangan has always been identified as a party of the common people and the youth. What about the future? We must be able to carry out real political work to remain present as the party of the common people and the youth," Puan stated before 3,200 DPR and DPRD members from PDIP.

Puan believes that relying on symbols or rhetoric is no longer sufficient in political work. "We can no longer rely solely on shouting 'Freedom!' and then the people will vote for the PDI-P. We must engage in political work at every level and in every community, using methods that are appropriate to the times, environment, and culture," she stressed.

In her directive, Puan also emphasized that the PDI-P's strength lies not only in the number of legislative seats and executive positions, but also in the party's internal solidarity.

"Solid in vision, structure, and political work with the people; we must have a clear direction for our struggle and a strong organization. That is our strength," Puan said.

Puan also reminded all cadres to have the courage to engage in internal self-criticism before criticizing external parties. This is crucial for the party to remain strong in facing various national political challenges.

"From voter pragmatism, populist programs that influence constituents, to massive image building on social media and buzzer attacks in the lead-up to the election," Puan concluded.

For your information, the Technical Guidance initiated by the PDIP DPP will run until Friday, August 1, with strategic materials such as faction strengthening, analysis of the preparation of the RPJMD, evaluation of the 2025 RKPD and APBD, and political communication strategies in the regions.
