Riza Chalid Returned to Indonesia, Attorney General's Office Finds His Whereabouts and Engages with Relevant Parties

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has coordinated with various relevant parties in an effort to repatriate suspect Muhammad Riza Chalid to Indonesia. His whereabouts are known.

Muhammad Riza Chalid is one of nine suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (Persero), its Sub-Holding, and Production Sharing Contract Contractors (KKKS) from 2018 to 2023.

"We have coordinated with the relevant parties," said Anang Supriatna, Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, to reporters on Wednesday, July 30.

Muhammad Riza Chalid is said to be in Malaysia. The beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak is said to have married a relative of the Sultanate of the neighboring country.

"What is clear is that to bring him back, we have investigators and have detected his whereabouts," he said.

Regarding the parties referred to in the coordination process, namely Malaysian authorities, Anang denied this and stated that he could not provide further details.

However, it was emphasized that the parties in question are closely related to the process of repatriating Muhammad Riza Chalid to Indonesia.

"For now, we haven't (coordinated with Malaysian authorities). Investigators are just taking action. What is clear is that the relevant parties are closely involved in efforts to repatriate him," said Anang.

It is known that Riza Chalid has failed to comply with a summons for questioning twice as a suspect in a crude oil corruption case.

In the repatriation effort, the Attorney General's Office is also collaborating with Immigration authorities. Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto announced that he has revoked the passport of crude oil corruption suspect Riza Chalid.

"We have revoked his passport," Agus said.

Agus stated that Riza is currently detected in Malaysia. The crude oil corruption suspect has been out of Indonesia since February 2025.

"His crossing (data on the Indonesian Immigration V4.0.4 application system) left Indonesia in February, and he is currently being monitored in Malaysia," he said.
