Syrian Refugees Stab Tourists At The Berlin Holocaust Monument Tried In Germany

JAKARTA - A Syrian refugee was charged with attempted murder after following a Spanish tourist at the Berlin Holocaust Monument.

This was revealed by the public prosecutor in a trial that took place in Germany on Tuesday, July 29.

Citing AFP, Tuesday, July 29, the defendant named Wassim Al M is suspected of being affiliated with the Daesh militant group injuring a 30-year-old tourist from Basque in northern Spain.

Prosecutors said that during the trial, the defendant had traveled from Leipzig City in eastern Germany on a mission to injure people he considered infidels.

The defendant, who at the time of the incident was 19 years old, wanted to obscure his criminal traces by sending a photo of himself to ISIS members so that the group could claim responsibility for the attack.

In this incident, the victim suffered injuries to the neck when he was attacked by the defendant at the Monument for European Jews who were killed in Berlin, near the Brandenburg Gate and the US Embassy in February 2025.
