JAKARTA - Indonesia recommends establishing security guarantees to empowering the Palestinian Authority, in the recommendations of the Working Group on the issue of Security of the Two-State Solution, at the Palestinian Summit at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, United States.

In the "High Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution" which was held July 28-30, Indonesia and Italy became Co-chairs of the Security Issue Working Group.

At the preparation meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha Nasir, who is also the head of the Indonesian delegation, reported concrete recommendations on the issue of the Security of the Two-State Solutions which were prepared based on the results of consultations with all UN member countries.

"This working group aims to identify security guarantees as well as the scope and duties of the stabilization mission under the UN command. These two aspects are one of the important pillars in realizing sustainable peace for the Palestinian and Israeli conflicts," said Deputy Foreign Minister Tata, as he is familiarly called, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday 29 July.

In total there are four recommendations produced by Pokja which are fronted by Indonesia and Italy.

First, forming credible and equivalent security guarantees for the two countries through the termination of violence and emphasizing the same rights for both sides for security. Deputy Foreign Minister Tata describes the real actions that have been identified, including pushing for a permanent ceasefire, establishing Palestinian transitional authorities in Gaza, and establishing regional security architectures to build trusts in the region.

Second, empowering the Palestinian Authority to self-organize security and take responsibility in Gaza and the West Bank with the aim of advancing the reunification of the Palestinian territories. The recommendations include establishing an International Coordination Framework under the United Nations, a mechanism for transferring security responsibilities to Palestinian authorities. There is a unified view of UN countries that strongly oppose forced transfer, as well as changes to the demographic and territorial status of Gaza and the Israeli-dominated Palestinian territories.

Third, encourage strengthening mutual trust in order to strengthen the capabilities of the two countries in carrying out joint responsibilities to ensure stability and security. The recommended action is the establishment of a ceasefire control mechanism, the implementation of increasing the capacity for empowerment of the Palestinian authorities, and support for peaceful development measures by civil society organizations.

Fourth, describe the formation of an international protection mechanism and the role of the United Nations. In this topic it is proposed that there be a Working Group for the preparation of a resolution for the formation of the UN Mission for the Stability of Gaza and Supervisory Missions in the West Bank.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tata said the recommendations submitted were in line with Indonesia's diplomatic policy priorities.

"The various recommendations submitted by the Security Working Group are in line with Indonesia's diplomatic priorities, especially in following up on President Prabowo Subianto's commitments, by ensuring guarantees of international security and support for sending Indonesian troops on UN peace missions in Palestine," concluded Deputy Foreign Minister Tata.

It is known that the 193-member UN General Assembly decided in September last year that a conference on the implementation of the two-state solution would be held in 2025. The meeting, which was chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, was postponed from the original schedule last June.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tata plans to deliver Indonesia's national statement on July 29, 2025, United States time.
