Triyanto explained that the perpetrator did not act alone. He had planned his action with a friend with the initials ES, because both of them ran out of money and wanted to return to their hometowns.
"The perpetrator and his friend ES intend to return to Medan but have no money. They then devised a plan to seize someone's motorbike for sale," said Triyanto.
The plan began on Thursday night. The perpetrators searched for targets through a friendship application, and succeeded in inviting the victim to meet in a field. After buying cigarettes and food together, the two crossed Jalan 32, Rimbo Bujang.
At that time, the perpetrator who had been carrying a sharp weapon then pointed at the victim and asked him to get off the motorbike. But the victim resisted. The perpetrator then stabbed the victim twice until the victim fled into the forest screaming for help.
Panicked, the perpetrator contacted ES to pick him up on Jalan 28. He fled through the forest while throwing away the sharp weapon he was using. The theft failed because the motorbike could not be taken away.
Shortly after the incident, the perpetrator fled to Medan. He was finally arrested by a joint team from the Tebo Police Satreskrim and Jatanras Polda North Sumatra.
