Extortion Fire In Lenteng Agung, Losses Estimated At IDR 100 Million

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service has estimated the loss due to the fire at the used goods stall on Jalan Guru Muhyin, Lenteng Agung Village, Jagakarsa District, reaching Rp. 100 million.

"The object of fire is used goods with an area of 400 square meters," said Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Syamsul Huda in Jakarta, Sunday, July 27, as reported by Antara.

The Gulkarmat Sub-dept. (Sudin) deployed six fire engines and 25 personnel after receiving fire information at 09.38 WIB and starting the blackout at 09.52 WIB until it was finished at 12.02 WIB.

"For the temporary suspicion, the fire was caused by an electric phenomenon," he said.

He said there was a family head with 10 people living in the location and a woman with the initials ER (48) years became the victim of death in the incident.

"This victim is the wife of a worker who was found in the bathroom after the fire was extinguished," he said.

Syamsul explained that the nephew of the used goods stall with the initials D was driving used goods and hearing sounds from behind the building. This witness thought it was the sound of abundant toren water because it was full.

After that, the witness saw the fire grow and heard a voice asking for help from the back room which is the room of the wife of the stall worker.

He tried to save the victim but because the fire had grown, this witness ignored his intention.

"Officers who extinguished the fire immediately looked for the victim and found his body in the bathroom," he said.
