South OKU Police Raid Cockfighting Arena, The Perpetrators Escape All

The South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police Criminal Investigation Unit deployed a cockfighting gambling location in Gunung Megang Village, Kisam Tinggi District, South OKU, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

This operation is based on reports from the surrounding community. However, when the joint officers arrived at the location on Thursday, July 24, the perpetrators had fled.

The police who did not find the perpetrators dismantled all the facilities used for cockfighting.

"Today the process of dismantling the cockfighting gambling arena is carried out in total. We will not provide space for any form of gambling, including cockfighting," said the Police Chief in Muaradua, Sunday, July 27, quoted by Antara.

From the results of the initial investigation, the arena is thought to have been managed by a man with the initials BN (55), a local resident who has also fled.

"Currently we are still hunting down the perpetrators involved and continuing to develop further investigations," he said.

He added that the demolition of the cockfighting gambling arena was a form of commitment from the South OKU Police in maintaining public order and security.

Previously, in the second week of July 2025, the South OKU Police also dismantled an illegal cockfighting gambling arena that was troubling the community in Gedung Kehiduli Village, Rawjung Agung District.

"During July 2025 alone, there were two cockfighting gambling locations that we dismantled. This shows that gambling practices in South OKU are quite alarming," he said.

Therefore, his party will increase routine supervision and patrols around gambling locations to prevent cockfighting gambling activities from reappearing in the future.

"We really hope that the participation of the community will immediately report to the local police if there are cockfighting gambling activities in their respective areas," he said.
