JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) allows Muslims to hold Id prayers in congregation on Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijriah. This is one of the points in the 'Guidance Letter for the Implementation of Eid Al-Fitr 1442 Hijriyah Prayers in Pandemic Situations.'

"The Islamic Holiday Committee / Eid Al-Fitr Prayer Committee before holding the Eid Al-Fitr Prayers in mosques and open fields must coordinate with the local government, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, and local security elements," read the points of the guidance letter issued on Thursday, May 6.

"To find out information on zoning status and to prepare supervisors so that the standard health protocol for COVID-19 is carried out properly, safely and under control," he wrote again.

In the letter number SE 07/2021 in Jakarta, the implementation of Eid Al-Fitr prayers can be carried out in mosques or open fields provided that the area is included in the green and yellow zone of COVID-19.

As for those who live in the red and orange zones, this should be done in their respective homes, in line with the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council and other Islamic organizations.

In addition, the implementation of the Eid prayers in the field / mosque must meet a number of protocol standards for preventing the transmission of COVID-19, such as the congregation must not exceed 50 percent of the room capacity, must be spaced, there is a body temperature check.

Then for the elderly (elderly) or people in unhealthy condition, just recovering from illness or from traveling, it is advisable not to attend Eid prayers in mosques and fields

All worshipers should keep wearing masks during the Eid Al-Fitr prayer and while listening to the Eid Al-Fitr sermon. Eid al-Fitr sermons are carried out briefly while still fulfilling the pillars of the sermon, a maximum of 20 minutes.

The following are the guidelines for holding Eid prayers at 1442 H / 2021 M during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Second, the Eid al-Fitr prayer 1 Syawal 1442 H / 2021 M in areas experiencing a high level of the spread of COVID-19 (red zone and orange zone) should be carried out in their respective homes, in line with the fatwas of the Indonesian Ulema Council and other Islamic organizations.

Third, the Eid al-Fitr prayer 1 Syawal 1442 H / 2021 M can be held in mosques and fields only in areas that are declared safe from COVID-19, namely the green zone and the yellow zone based on the determination of the authorities;

Fourth, in the event that the Eid Al-Fitr prayers are held in mosques and fields, it is mandatory to observe the COVID-19 health protocol standards strictly and observe the following provisions:

a. The Eid Al-Fitr prayer is carried out in accordance with the harmony of the Eid prayer and the Eid sermon followed by all the congregation present;

b. The congregation of the Eid al-Fitr prayer that is present must not exceed 50% of the capacity of the venue to allow for maintaining distance between the staff and between congregations;

c. The Eid Al-Fitr prayer committee is recommended to use a temperature check device in order to ensure the healthy condition of the congregation present;

g. The pulpit used in organizing Eid al-Fitr prayers in mosques and in the field should be equipped with a transparent barrier between the preacher and the congregation;

h. After the Eid prayer, the congregation returns home in an orderly manner and avoids shaking hands with physical contact.
