MPR Can't Discuss Gibran's Impeachment Letter If There Is No Constitutional Court Decision On The Recommendation Of The DPR

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR PKB Faction Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa explained the position of the proposal letter for the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at his institution. According to him, the MPR cannot process if there is no decision from the Constitutional Court (MK) which was previously submitted by the DPR.

"I also haven't received the information from the secretary general, I haven't asked yet. Because if we look at it when there is it, I immediately study what the mechanism is to get to the MPR," said Neng Eem at the DPR building, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 23.

"It turns out that the mechanism before going to the Constitutional Court must also be accommodated by the DPR. In the DPR it is then discussed whether this is necessary or not, whether this violates the law, there is something crucial that the vice president violates or not. If according to the DPR it exists, then it can be submitted to the Constitutional Court. Now in the Constitutional Court it will be discussed again, later the Constitutional Court's decision will be given inkrah's authority," he continued.

Furthermore, continued Neng Eem, the Constitutional Court will re-discuss whether the violation is true or not. If not, then the impeachment proposal letter cannot be brought to the MPR plenary meeting.

"If the Constitutional Court does not, it means that it cannot be brought to the MPR. But if it turns out that the Constitutional Court has decided that there is a violation of the constitution, for example, if it continues to be taken again by the DPR, it will continue to be proposed for a special trial. So the process is long," explained Neng Eem.

"But we have this if at most today some letters are only possible to review, see, we can't because if the MPR has a mechanism," he concluded.
