JAKARTA - The National Police moved quickly to investigate the case of mixed rice which is in the public spotlight. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that a special team had been deployed to follow up on the fraudulent practice which was said to have cost the state up to almost Rp 100 trillion per year.

"The team has moved since yesterday and maybe there will be a periodic initial release. Later, the National Police's Food Task Force will submit it," General Sigit said in his statement, Tuesday, July 22.

The National Police Chief emphasized that this step was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions asking for firm action against the mixed rice case. The initial release of the results of the investigation is planned to be delivered today, Wednesday (23/7/2025), by the National Police Food Task Force.

Apart from the National Police, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) is also involved in handling the case. Currently, the AGO is still studying data and findings related to fraudulent rice mixing practices.

Previously, President Prabowo stated his commitment to eradicating the food mafia which has been detrimental to the community and the state. The mode used by entrepreneurs is selling ordinary rice with premium rice labels to reap bigger profits.
