The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Medan District Attorney (Kejari), North Sumatra, has demanded that the defendant Nefri Zaldi (32) be sentenced to two years in prison for stealing a pair of luxury sandals belonging to his former employer.

"Requesting that the panel of judges sentence the defendant Nefri Zaldi to two years in prison," said Public Prosecutor of the Medan Kejari Aprilda Yanti Hutasuhut at the Medan District Court, Tuesday, July 22, as reported by ANTARA.

The Public Prosecutor said that the defendant Nefri, a resident of Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, was proven to have committed a criminal act of theft.

"The defendant Nefri Zaldi is believed to have been legally proven guilty of committing the theft, as stipulated in Article 362 of the Criminal Code," Aprilda explained.

Hearing the charges, the defendant Nefri conveyed a plea or a defense note verbally.

He appealed to the panel of judges at the Medan District Court to lighten his sentence.

"I pleaded guilty, sorry, and have family responsibilities. Please give me a sentence," said Nefri.

After listening to the demands of the Medan Prosecutor's Office and the pleidoi of the defendant Nefri, Chief Judge Sarma Siregar postponed the trial until next week.

"The trial has been postponed and will resume on Tuesday (29/7) with an agenda for reading the verdict," said Judge Sarma.

Public Prosecutor of the Medan Kejari Aprilda Yanti Hutasuhut in his indictment stated that this criminal case occurred on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

At that time, the defendant Nefriyang had previously worked at the victim Siwaji Raza's house, along with witness Andika Gultom, to the victim's house at the Griyatur Indah Complex, Jalan Krisan Medan.

At around 13.00 WIB, witness Andika saw the defendant taking a pair of HERMEs brand sandals from the shoe rack, and putting them in a brown plastic bag, said Public Prosecutor Aprilda.

After taking the item, said the prosecutor, the defendant Nefri asked witness Andika to take him to Jalan Gaperta Medan.

Three days later, witness Andika met witness Ravindra in front of D City, Jalan Melati Putih Medan.

At that time, Ravindra said that the sandals belonging to the victim Siwaji were missing, and Andika informed him that he saw the defendant Nefri taking sandals from the shoe rack.

"The defendant was finally arrested by the police on Friday (21/3), and immediately taken to the police station for further processing. As a result of the incident, the victim admitted that he suffered a loss of Rp. 15 million," said Public Prosecutor Aprilda.
