KM Barcelona V Accident Victim: 575 Survivors, 3 Killed And 2 Missing

JAKARTA - SAR Manado revealed that 575 people survived the fire that hit the Barcelona V motorboat (KM) in the waters of Talise, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Sunday, July 20. While the other 3 victims were killed and 2 still missing.

"The SAR operation will continue until all the victims are found," said Head of the Manado Class A Search and Rescue Office George M Randang in Manado, Tuesday, July 22, confiscated by Antara.

Cross-agency coordination and community support, he said, are the keys to success in handling this disaster.

"We continue to do our best by mobilizing all available resources. We hope that the two victims who are still being searched can be found soon," he said.

He said further information and developments of SAR operations would continue to be updated and submitted regularly.

"The search and rescue operation for victims of the KM Barcelona V ship crash has entered its third day," he said.

Today, at 07.10 WITA, the joint SAR team continued the search operation within a radius of 5 nautical miles (nm) from the last location of the burning ship (LKP) by referring to the designated SAR Map Prediction.

In addition, a rubber boat team was deployed to search the coasts and waters around the Siladen Islands and Ganga, considering the possibility of victims being swept away or stranded around the area.

Personnel were involved in the SAR operation, namely the Manado Class A Search and Rescue Office, Likupang Bakamla Base, Manado Lantamal Patrol, North Sulawesi Police Polair Unit, Kodim 1309 Manado, Manado KSOP, Likupang KUPP, Manado Health Quarantine Center, North Sulawesi Provincial Health Office.

In addition, the North Sulawesi Provincial Health Office, the North Sulawesi Provincial BPBD, the North Minut Regency Government BPBD, the Likupang Navy Post, the Likupang Koramil, and the families of the victims.

After the KM Barcelona V fire, the victim's family reported that two people had not been found, namely Levi Aiba and Hamen Langinang.
