GORONTALO - The Operational Team of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Gorontalo Police chased AYKW, an alleged perpetrator of embezzlement of three cars, until he was arrested in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province.
Acting Head of Sub-Directorate III Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Gorontalo Kompol Guruh Bagus Eddy Suryana in Gorontalo, said that previously investigators had summoned the suspect AYKW twice, but the perpetrator had never fulfilled the summons.
Guruh explained that the suspect embezzled three cars that caused the victim to suffer a loss of Rp. 300 million, then fled to Manado City, North Sulawesi.
"This case occurred in December 2022, where the victim left three of his vehicles in the showroom belonging to the perpetrator," said Guruh, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 22.
After a while, said Guruh, the three cars had been sold or transferred to other people, but the perpetrator did not inform the victim that the car had been sold.
For this matter, the victim, who felt he had been deceived by the perpetrator and suffered hundreds of losses, reported the matter to the Gorontalo Police in 2024.
After a series of investigations, the perpetrator AYKW, who never fulfilled the summons from investigators, fled, so the Gorontalo Police team, who pocketed the identity and whereabouts of the perpetrators, immediately chased them to North Sulawesi and arrested them.
From the hands of the perpetrators, said Guruh, the Regional Police's Ditreskrimum opsnal team secured evidence of cars and proof of receipt of money or receipts.
"The perpetrator admitted to committing the act because of the urgency of economic factors, where the money from the sale of the three cars was used by the perpetrators for their personal needs," he said.
