Kaesang Re-elected, PSI Evidence Doesn't Want Changes

JAKARTA Citra Institute political observer, Efriza said that the re-elect of the youngest son of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Kaesang Pangarep as PSI General Chair proved that no PSI cadres wanted change.

"In fact, considering that without Jokowi and his family, PSI would not be able to compete with other parties. With the high election of Kaesang, modern PSI would become the face of the political dynasty of the Jokowi family," he said, Sunday, July 20, 2025.

He considered that in the past PSI had many fresh ideas that reflected the younger generation and at the same time became alternative political parties from political parties that already existed. However, with today's political style, PSI is considered not as interesting as it used to be for the younger generation.

"Now PSI is leaving the style of young people, as can be seen from the style of power management centered on the circle of people close to Jokowi and his family alone," added Efriza.

According to him, with the current style and conditions, PSI is increasingly moving away as an ideological party and is believed to make Jokowi not just an icon, but has already summoned him.

After Kaesang is re-elected, national politics, especially for PSI, will heat up because those against Jokowi will attack more and more, not only to Jokowi but will also target PSI. So, the face of the party will continue to be criticized by the public, not getting sympathy," said Efriza.

Previously, Kaesang Pangarep again served as Chairman of PSI until until 2030 after winning the general election announced at the PSI Congress at Graha Saba Buana Building, Solo, Saturday 19 July 2025.

Jokowi's youngest son managed to outperform the votes acquired by two other presidential candidates, namely Ronald A Sinaga or Bro Ron and Agus Mulyono Herlambang. In the results of the e-voting announced at the PSI Congress, Kaesang won 65.28 percent. The second place is Bro Ron with 22.23 percent of the votes, and Agus who got 12.49 percent.
