JAKARTA - The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Banten Police searched the office of the Baitul Mal Wa Tamwil (BMT) Muamaroh Cooperative in Anyer District, Serang Regency, Banten.

The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Didik Haryanto, said the search was a follow-up to the handling of reports of alleged fraud and/or embezzlement worth more than Rp9.1 billion.

"It is true (the search was carried out) for investigation as a follow-up to the victim's report," Didik told VOI, Tuesday, July 15.

"This is a form of people's hope that wants to see justice served. The victims feel very appreciated because their reports are being followed up seriously," said Ahmadi.

Hundreds of deceived victims are said to have come from several areas. Most come from Anyer and its surroundings.

"We are handling the case of BMT This Cooperative represents about 200 members or customers who feel aggrieved," said Ahmadi.
