Minister Of Religion: The 2026 Hajj Quota Has Not Been Decided But Has The Potential To Increase

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar stated that the Indonesian Hajj quota for the Hajj season of 1447 Hijri/2026 AD has not been officially determined, but the Government of Saudi Arabia has given a signal that it will maintain and even increase the quota.

"Next year's quota will be determined in due course. But in the early signs, the Saudi government, God willing, will still maintain the current minimum quota. But Saudi Arabia's efforts will increase the quota instead," said Nasaruddin Umar as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 14.

He explained that the signal for the addition of the quota was in line with the development of infrastructure at a number of crucial places for the pilgrimage.

Saudi Arabia is currently carrying out a number of developments, especially in the Mina area, which has been the most congested location at the peak of the pilgrimage.

A number of towers or towers have begun to be built as a substitute for the tents that have been used by the congregation.

"The target is maybe a few years later, the tents will decrease, but there will be more apartments there," he said.

In addition to the development of accommodation, the Government of Saudi Arabia is also expanding transportation infrastructure, including roads and flyover options to reduce congestion during the peak Hajj period.

The Minister of Religion said the expansion also occurred in the areas of the Grand Mosque, Prophet's Mosque, as well as main facilities such as thawaf, sai, and congregational places.

"Even the airport is also expanded. The old airport will be reactivated and alternative airports around Thai are also prepared," he said.

According to Nasaruddin, these steps show the commitment of the Government of Saudi Arabia so that the waiting time for the implementation of the pilgrimage, especially for pilgrims from countries with long waiting lists like Indonesia, can be accelerated.
