2 Civilians Killed In KKB Brutal Attack In Puncak Jaya

The violent acts carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) again claimed lives. Two civilians were targeted by stabbing and shooting in a separate incident that occurred in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua, Saturday, July 12.

The first victim, with the initials S, a motorcycle taxi driver, was brutally murdered by the KKB. After death, his body was thrown into a 500 meter deep ravine.

Meanwhile, the second victim, with the initials EH, was shot while opening her window. The shooting occurred suddenly, leaving deep trauma for residents who were starting to feel insecure at home.

The two bodies have now been evacuated and are at Mulia Hospital for autopsy purposes. The process of identifying and deepening the cause of death is still being carried out by the forensic team.

Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo, in his statement on Sunday, July 13, said that this bloody incident occurred in two different locations. The joint military and police officers are pursuing the perpetrators.

"Based on information from the intelligence network, this tragedy is strongly believed to be related to KKB activities led by Pakua Nambo," said Yusuf.

Regarding this incident, the security forces have called for civilians to remain vigilant and report immediately if they see suspicious activity around their residence.

"We urge the public to immediately inform the nearest apparatus if they find suspicious movements from armed groups," said Yusuf.

This incident adds to the long list of violence perpetrated by the KKB against civilians in Papua.
