Experts Call The Article In The RKUHAP Not Synchronous With The Duties And Authority Of The KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a discussion regarding the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP) with legal experts on Thursday, July 10. Their duties and authorities are discussed in the future and are considered to be affected.

"Some of the articles are not in sync with the duties and authorities of the KPK which have been regulated in Law 30 of 2002 as amended to Law 19 of 2019," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement, Saturday, July 12.

Budi said that this legal expert then asked for a lex specialist so that the KPK could still work optimally. This is because corruption must be seen as an extraordinary crime.

"In principle, these experts fully support the existence of lex specialist arrangements for law enforcement of corruption as the KPK has done so far," he said.

"Where corruption is seen as an extraordinary crime as well as a lex specialist in the Criminal Code. Moreover, the authority of the KPK in the investigation, investigation, prosecution has also been ratified by the Constitutional Court," continued Budi.

This discussion will then be accommodated and examined by the anti-corruption commission. "The inputs from these experts will certainly be enrichment for the KPK in further internal discussions," said Budi.

Previously, Commission III of the DPR and the government had completed the discussion of the problem inventory list (DIM) for the Revision of the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP). Activities are carried out for two days from 9-10 July.

The discussion was carried out by Commission III of the DPR and the government represented by Deputy Minister of Law (Wamenkum) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy. There were 1,676 DIM RKUHAP with details of DIM remaining 1,091, DIM editorial as many as 295, 68 DIM amended, 91 DIM removed, 131 DIM new substance.
