Speaking at the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Foreign Minister Sugiono underlined the three main issues that ASEAN-India paid attention to, namely regional security, economic cooperation and food security.
In terms of economics, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of driving inclusive and sustainable economic growth, especially in the midst of a slowdown in the global economy.
For this reason, Foreign Minister Sugiono assessed that ASEAN and India need to strengthen economic cooperation, deepen business-to-business interactions, and improve maritime connectivity between regions.
"Conactivity is the key to strengthening the regional economic architecture. We fully support the determination of 2026 as the ASEAN'India Year of Maritime Cooperation," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, Thursday, July 10.
Furthermore, the Indonesian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration in building a strong and sustainable food system, highlighting the importance of investing in agricultural technology and strengthening food supply chains to ensure long-term resilience.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister took the example of the Government of Indonesia's Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program as part of a national strategy to strengthen food security and community nutrition.
