Bali Governor Wayan Koster is targeting repair of road damage that has collapsed on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk route to be completed in three weeks.
"The road is broken, I have coordinated with the Head of the PU Ministry Street Center because this is a national road, it took three weeks to complete this," said Koster in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, July 9.
The landslide occurred on the Antosari-Megati national road section, precisely at kilometer 38+725 in front of Pasar Bajera, Selemadeg District, Tabanan Regency, on Monday (7/7).
This incident disrupted the vital access of the Denpasar-Gilimanuk route and immediately received attention from the government.
For the time being, traffic has to be diverted to a further route and has an impact on domestic tourists, therefore the Bali Provincial Government targets improvements to take place on time or even sooner.
"The road bursts into holes, who knows, it cannot be seen, I have asked for (acceleration), but the calculation is three weeks, indeed because the land is unstable (land), there it cannot be quickly studied the soil structure," said the Governor.
The Coordinator for Communication for the 2025-2030 Bali Development Acceleration Team, I Gusti Putu Eka Mulyawan Wira Senapati, added that the cause of the road breaking down on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk route was the collapse of an irrigation canal that crossed under the road.
"The channel flows water from the east side of the Bajera Market (northern direction) to the south, the collapse of this structure causes landslides about 8 meters deep with a water level of 1.8 meters," said Eka.
From the PJN Satker Region I Bali then proposed a budget for emergency handling to the East Java-Baliidan National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) and determined the technical plan for handling it.
"The technical plan for handling is to replace the channel using a box culvert measuring 2x2 meters, then restore road pavement conditions," he said.
In addition to repairs in three weeks, the Bali Provincial Government team seeks to maintain smooth traffic by diverting the flow for light and private vehicles.

"In the field, initial steps have also been taken, including the installation of traffic signs, safety fences, preparation of steel sheet piles, mobilizing heavy equipment such as excavators and cranes, as well as closing temporary irrigation flows," he said.
In the early stages of work, the team has prepared a box culvert 2x2 meter which will be used and clean the land and make work access in the box culvert installation area.
