Keruk Kali Irrigation Made By Central Government, Pramono: If Not Treated As A Source Of Flood

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has dredged the Bekasi Irrigation River in Ujung Menteng Village, Cakung, East Jakarta. During his review, Pramono admitted that the river was made by the central government.

However, the DKI Provincial Government continues to dredge up the mud that settles in that time. Because, if left unchecked, the function of water reservoirs when flooding will not be optimal.

"Actually, this irrigation used to be the central government, because this irrigation was used to deal with flooding and also at the same time irrigation. But on the way, the Jakarta government is finally treating this irrigation, because we know that this is not being treated by one of the flood sources in Jakarta," said Pramono, Monday, July 7th.

Dredging is carried out on the 5,300 meter long river flow to increase water capacity so as not to overflow during high rainfall.

Pramono emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government continues to comb flood-prone areas for preventive steps, one of which is through dredging river flows at various points in Jakarta.

"I have decided to handle dredging on the edges of Jakarta immediately because this is a top priority," Pramono explained.

For information, the Central Bekasi Irrigation River in Cakung District crosses three urban villages, namely Ujung Menteng, East Cakung, and West Cakung. This flow is under the authority of the Citarum River Basin Center (BBWSC).

The dredging of the Central Bekasi Irrigation River segment A (from the East Flood Canal to the Metland Ujung Menteng Housing Gate) has been carried out from February 2 to May 19, 2025, with the dredging volume reaching 5,573 m3. Meanwhile, segment B (from the Metland Housing Gate to Jl. Tambun Rengas) has been dredged as much as 4,640 m3 mud. The dredging of the PAM Inspection River in West Cakung Village (Jl. Raya Tipar to JORR E) produces 2,086 m3 mud.

In addition to dredging, it is also planned to repair the sheet pile of irrigation connecting channels on Jalan Inspeksi PAM, West Cakung Village, along 386 meters with a height of sheet pile designed at three meters.
