JAKARTA - The government is moving quickly to realize the big vision of equitable education through the People's School (SR) program. The first stage of this program will begin to be launched simultaneously on July 14, 2025, covering 100 points in various parts of Indonesia, with a data-based approach, stages, and the use of cross-institutional assets.
Expert Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs for Strategic Policy Planning and Evaluation, Andy Kurniawan, said that all points will start operating on the same date, although the monitoring and adjustment mechanisms will be carried out in stages in the field.
"God willing, these 100 points can operate simultaneously on July 14. Starting with matriculation in all the locations that have been prepared," said Andy Kurniawan in his statement Sunday, July 6.
This first phase of the People's School uses existing assets belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs, as well as local government-owned buildings that have been proposed and verified. Each point has different capacities and levels of education, depending on the readiness of regional facilities and needs.
From the data submitted, the elementary school level is still limited to around seven elementary schools, while the junior high and high school levels include hundreds of study groups (rombels), with dominance at the high school level. Overall, the total capacity of rombel at these 100 points is able to accommodate 9,755 students.
Not only infrastructure, the government has also prepared 1,554 teachers who are recruited openly, through a national standard selection process in collaboration with BKN, KemenPAN-RB, and the Directorate General of Dikdasmen. The names of the teachers who passed have been announced, and are currently undergoing a rebuttal period.

As for the student side, the selection process is also carried out in stages in each region. From 100 points, 63 points have finalized the determination of students by the regional head, while 37 other points have completed more than 50% of the set quota.
