Elderly Workers Found Dead By Power At The Kramat Jati Water Channel Closure Project

JAKARTA - A ditch cover project worker with the initials D (64) was found dead after being electrocuted while working in the Batu Ampar area, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta.

The man from Sukoharjo, Central Java was found dead in a pathetic manner at the scene with his body lying on the floor.

The victim's hand was found to have suffered burns, allegedly due to an electric shock from the machine he was using.

According to witness testimony with the initials S, the work on the ditch cover project has been carried out since last Tuesday, July 1. However, he found the victim was already in a lifeless condition lying on the floor.

Panicked, witness S then called his neighbor with the initials UD to confirm the condition of the victim. But unfortunately, the victim died instantly.

Residents then reported the incident to the Kramat Jati Police. Officers who arrived at the location immediately conducted a crime scene investigation and gathered a number of witnesses for questioning.

Furthermore, the victim's body was taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for an autopsy to find out the exact cause of the victim's death.

The Head of Kramat Jati Police, Kompol Rusit Malaka, confirmed that the incident of project workers being electrocuted. They are still investigating.

"The family has accepted the incident, because the person concerned also works," he briefly confirmed, Sunday, July 6.
