Former Head Of Langkat Education And Culture Sued 1.5 Years In Prison In PPPK Bribery Case

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Langkat District Attorney (Kejari), North Sumatra, has demanded 18 months imprisonment for Saiful Abdi as the former Head of the Langkat Regency Education Office (Disdik), North Sumatra in connection with a bribery case.

"Asking the panel of judges to sentence the defendant Saiful Abdi to one year and six months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Nurul Walda at the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 4.

The prosecutor stated that the defendant Saiful Abdi was proven to be involved in the bribery case for the selection of Government Employees with the Langkat Regency Work Agreement (P3K) for the 2023 fiscal year.

In addition to the defendant Saiful, Nurul also demanded 18 months in prison for four other defendants, namely Eka Syahputra Depari as Head of the Langkat Regency Regional Personnel Agency (BKD).

Then, the defendants Rohayu Ningsih and Awaluddin respectively as the Principal and Alex Sander as the Head of the Student Section for the Langkat District Education and Elementary School Sector.

The five defendants each separate file were proven to have violated Article 11 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

"The defendants were charged with paying a fine of Rp. 50 million each, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Nurul Walda.

After listening to the demands of the Langkat Prosecutor's Office, Chief Judge M Nazir gave the five defendants the opportunity to submit a memorandum of defense at the trial next week.

"The defendants and their legal advisors are welcome to make their defense, and read out at the next trial on Thursday (10/7)," said Judge Nazir.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Langkat Nurul Walida in the indictment stated that this case began with the Decree of the Minister of PAN-RB Number 546 of 2023, which stipulates the needs of ASN in Langkat Regency, including 800 formations of teachers.

Knowing this, the defendant Saiful Abdi at that time served as Head of the Langkat Regency Education Office ordered the defendant Alek Sander to look for PPPK selection participants who were willing to pay a sum of money to be passed in the selection.

"The rates are varied, ranging from Rp. 35 million to Rp. 70 million per person," said Public Prosecutor Nurul.

In the period April to December 2023, the defendant Awaluddin collected 33 prospective participants with an average rate of IDR 50 million per person.

Of this amount, Rp. 5 million was used as a personal commission for the defendant Alek Sander, while another Rp. 45 million was handed over to the defendant Saiful Abdi.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant Rohayu Ningsih was asked to find a potential participant. Through a teacher named Siti Aisyah, the defendant Rohayu gathered seven potential participants at a rate of Rp45 million per person.

In addition, he continued, from a teacher named Legiman MPd, five prospective participants were obtained at a rate of Rp. 40 million per person.

"All the money was then distributed by the defendant Saiful Abdi to the defendant Eka Syahputra Depari as the Head of the Langkat Regency BKD," said the Public Prosecutor.
