JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised the struggles and courage of women in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, insisting his country would not leave them alone.
This was conveyed by President Erdogan during a speech at the meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Ankara on Wednesday.
"I have great respect for them (Gaza women) for acting bravely to defend their land, their children, their dignity in dealing with Israel's barbaric attacks that have lasted 21 months," he said.
"They are women who hide their tears when hugging loved ones wrapped in cloth. They are women who do not bow to the invaders despite facing various difficulties, oppression, and challenges," he continued.
"They are women who have been behind the legendary, extraordinary, and extraordinary struggles of a century for freedom, through sacrifice, courage, and resistance," President Erdogan praised.
In his speech, President Erdogan quoted Fadwa Tuqan, a Palestinian poet whose poetry was filled with symbols of resistance.
"In his life for 86 years, Tuqan witnessed the suffering, occupation, massacre, and seizure of Palestinian soil. He reflected the spirit of resistance in these words: Fatigue will never spread on the battlefield, on our foreheads, we will never rest, until we expel ghosts, highlighters, and darkness," he said.
President Erdogan reiterated his solidarity with women in Gaza and Palestine, which, he said, "Never allowed the flag of resistance to fall, stand firm with unshakable faith and unshakable determination."
