Iranian Revolutionary Guard Kills Two People And Arrests 50 Others Allegedly Related To Israel's Mossad

JAKARTA - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed two people and arrested more than 50 "terrorists and mercenaries" suspects accused of cooperating with Israel's Mossad, Iranian media reported.

The IRGC said the operation had been going on for the past two weeks in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan in the southeast of the country.

Iran suffered a significant blow to its nuclear program during the war and Israel boasted of using Mossad agents on the ground for covert operations.

Since then, Tehran has announced several spy-related executions for Israel.

Security forces have intensified their crackdown on people suspected of working with Israel and its spy bodies since a 12-day war with Israel, although a ceasefire has been imposed.

"A large number of weapons and ammunition, including American weapons, have been found and confiscated from these people," Tasnim reported as quoted by The National July 2.

It is known that Tehran sentenced many people to death for having ties to Mossad and supporting its operations.

Iran has long accused Israeli intelligence of carrying out sabotage operations against its nuclear site and killing its scientists.

It is known, before the war broke out on June 13, incidents between security forces or the IRGC and local armed groups in Sistan and the Baluchestan often occurred.

The Baluchi armed group, particularly Jaish Al Adl, operates in provinces bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The armed group has waged insurgency against authorities in Iran for years and has carried out several attacks on regime forces.

Baluchi is a ethnic minority mostly Sunni in Iran and is active in national protests in 2022. Hundreds of people died in the IRGC crackdown that was carried out afterward.
