JAKARTA - MR, a male soap opera artist, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cempaka Putih Police after extorting his girlfriend who is a same-sex couple with a value of Rp. 20 million. The suspect was arrested at an boarding house in the Harjamukti area, Depok, West Java.

"The suspect has the initials MR, he is a soap opera artist and he is indeed a suspect," said Cempaka Putih Police Chief, Kompol Pengky Sukmawan when confirmed, Wednesday (02/07/2025).

Kompol Pengky said the suspect's arrest was made after there was a report from the victim to the Cempaka Putih Police. Then an investigation was carried out.

"The method is that he threatens to ask for money with threats. In essence, the threat (of the perpetrators) will spread photos without clothes and videos of them during sex, between the victim and the perpetrator," he said.

The suspect and the victim had same-sex relationships recorded by the perpetrator.

"Yes, same-sex relationships," he said.

It was later discovered that the suspect and the victim became acquainted through social media, then ended up meeting and establishing same-sex love.

"For about 2 months, get to know it through social media. Social media friendship is like that," he said.

The suspect's mode of extortion against the victim was worth Rp. 20 million. The giving was through cash and transfer.

As a result of his actions, the suspect MR was charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 5 years in prison.
