Israeli Attack On Iran's EVin Prison Kills 71 People

JAKARTA - Israel's attack on the Evin Prison in Iran's capital, Tehran, on June 23 killed 71 people.

At the end of the air war with Iran, Israel attacked Tehran's most famous prison for political prisoners, in Israel's efforts to expand its targets outside military and nuclear sites to target symbols of the Iranian government system.

"In the attack on the Evin prison, 71 people were killed including administrative staff, youth who were undergoing military service, detainees, family members of detainees who were visiting them, and neighbors living around the prison," Iranian court spokesman Asghar Mawangir said in a statement published on the media. Mizan's court reported by Reuters, Monday, June 30.

Jancangir sebelumnya mengatakan sebagian gedung administrasi penjara Evin telah rusak dalam serangan itu dan banyak orang tewas dan terluka.

The court said the remaining detainees had been transferred to another prison in Tehran province. Evin's prison detained a number of foreign nationals, including two French nationals who had been detained for three years.

"The attack targeting Evin's prison in Tehran is endangering our citizens totaling Kohler and Jacques Paris. That is unacceptable," French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on social media X after the attack.
