The perpetrator of the sadistic robbery and murder that killed a BRILink agent in Imaan Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency has finally been arrested after being on the run for almost a year.

The perpetrator named Ahmad Midhol was secured in the middle of an oil palm plantation, Tumbang Kalang Village area, Antang Kalang District, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan.

Midhol is on the wanted list (DPO) after being the mastermind behind the sadistic murder that killed Wardatun Toyibah (28), a housewife in Imaan Gresik Village. This arrest ended the long pursuit by the police since the bloody incident occurred in Ima'an Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency, in March 2024.

"Yes, that's right, we have secured the DPO (Midhol)," said Gresik Police Chief AKBP Rovan Richard Mehenu, Sunday, June 29.

The police chief explained that the tracking process against Midhol was not easy. During the escape, the man continued to move cities in order to avoid being chased by officers.

"The perpetrator was arrested in the middle of an oil palm plantation. The team has moved to bring the person concerned to Gresik for further investigation," he explained.

Ahmad Midhol is known to be a close neighbor of the victim, Wardatun Toyibah (28). At the time of the incident, he sneaked into the victim's house not far from his house.

The victim was in the room with his child who was still a toddler. The perpetrator immediately attacked the victim with a knife, stabbed him in the chest and neck until he died on the spot.

After killing the victim, Midhol took away around Rp. 150 million in cash and a cell phone belonging to the victim. Meanwhile, the victim's husband, Mahfud (42) was found safe because the incident was sleeping in the living room. The child who was in the room with his mother was not injured.

Previously, the police had arrested Asrfin, a colleague of the perpetrator, who was suspected of being involved. He was arrested on Sunday (7/4/2024) while hiding at his brother's house in the Wonosalam area, Jombang Regency. Asrofin was arrested without a fight and immediately taken to the Gresik Police Headquarters for intensive examination.

With the arrest of Ahmad Midhol, Gresik Police investigators hope to complete the chronology and role of each perpetrator in the bloody robbery case.
