JAKARTA - Iran accused International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi of "traitting his duties" because he urged to visit Tehran's nuclear facility that was bombed by the United States.

"IAEA and its Director-General (Rafael Grossi) are fully responsible for this sad situation," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a statement on X.

Grossi's insistence on visiting the (nuclear) facilities that were bombed under the pretext of protection was meaningless, and may even mean evil. Iran has the right to take any steps to defend its interests, its people, and its sovereignty," Aragghchi stressed.

The 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran erupted on June 13 after Tel Aviv launched airstrikes against Iranian military, nuclear and civilian facilities. The attack killed 606 victims and injured 5,332 people, according to Iran's Ministry of Health.

The US, Israel's main ally, also bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22, in an escalation of the conflict.

In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks that killed at least 29 people and injured more than 3,400 people in Israel, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The conflict stalled under a US-brokered ceasefire, which took effect on June 24.

In response to the Israeli-US attack, the Iranian parliament on Wednesday (25/6) passed the bill to suspend cooperation with the IAEA to the safety and security of Tehran's nuclear activities can be guaranteed.

"This is a direct consequence of Grossi's regretful role in blurring the fact that the agency 'a decade ago' has closed all past problems," Araghchi said.

"Through this evil act, he directly facilitated the implementation of a politically motivated resolution against Iran by the Board of Governors of the IAEA as well as the illegal Israeli and US bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities in an astonishing betrayal of its duties," he said.

On June 12, the 35-member Board of Governors of the IAEA adopted a resolution stating Iran violated its non-proliferation obligations for the first time in nearly two decades.
