REJANG LEBONG - The Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, said the number of residents of the area who have registered for Hajj currently reaches 4,966 people, with an estimated waiting time of 23 years.

"As of June 25, 2025, the number of residents of Rejang Lebong Regency who registered for Hajj was 4,966 people. If this number is reduced by a quota of 221 people per year, it will only expire in the next 23 years," said Head of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) at the Ministry of Religion Rejang Lebong M Adityawarman Budi when contacted by ANTARA, Friday, June 27.

He explained that the high interest of the people of Rejang Lebong Regency to carry out the fifth Islamic pillars was due to the improving economy of the people in the region.

Residents of Rejang Lebong who have registered for this pilgrimage, he said, have been included in the waiting list in the Integrated Hajj Computerization Information System (Siskohat) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.

Of the 10 percent of the residents who have registered for this pilgrimage are elderly groups (elderly) aged over 65 years.

"These elderly people get special quotas, where the distribution is carried out by the Bengkulu Provincial Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion. The data is seen in Siskohat and is sorted into several people, for 2025 Rejang Lebong gets a quota of seven people," he said.

According to him, the regular hajj quota received by Rejang Lebong Regency each year is 221 people, and added with a special hajj quota for the elderly distributed by the Bengkulu Provincial Ministry of Religion.

"The Hajj quota of Rejang Lebong Regency is expected to increase so that it can reduce the length of the waiting list. Currently we are still waiting for regulations from the central government, if later there will be an additional request," he said.

He appealed to people who have registered for Hajj and are included in the Hajj waiting list in the area to be patient and be able to maintain their health, so that when the time comes, they can fulfill the fifth Islamic pillars well.

"There are two people who will register for Hajj at Rejang Lebong and two banks who receive the deposit, namely Bank Muamalat and BSI," said M Adityawarman Budi.
